Dined with Mr. Walpole, Sir Charles Davers & Dr. Warren. Attended Lady Pelham and four daughters to the Play, the West Indian, a new farce called `Who is the Dupe'. Actor, Mr. Parsons, not good. Resembles Chineto. Unlikely that Tom Pelham into Parliament before General Election. At that time probably chosen for county and Harry for Lewes. Sir T. Miller brought in for latter on Pelham's interest, constantly votes in opposition. Attended Ranelagh. Also private party at Lady Stapylton's, "sing tantara sara Cats all". Count Carlit presented at Levee. Batt gets on upon Western Circuit. St. John made unsuccessful attempt to speak in House of Commons. Fritz should have been invited to represent Grantham at Anniversary Dinner of Royal Academy today. Bonneau & Morer[?] in Robes of the Order and Steiger[?] leading the band. House of Lords will take away some of Moccenates. The 13th Regiment to be encamped at Cox Heath. Colonel Ogilvie & Lieutenant Dal will regret Saltram. Wet summer expected after the long drought. Children well. Sir Cesar Hawkins in town. Eldest son to marry. Compliments to Canosa. Remember sickness caused by Mascapones last year.
