Family party at Lord Carlisle's, Lord & Lady Gower & Lord Trentham, Lord Dudley who is a Staffordshire neighbour there. Opera afterwards. Almodobar’s; company numerous. Ambassador had been at an Assembly at Miladi Corregidoras at Mansion House. Thence to Assembly at Mrs. North's. Two tables at Macao, Miss Pelham constant loser. Cribbage back in fashion. Bishop present, living in Grosvenor Square in house fitted up by Mr. & Mrs. Bowater. Grey flocked paper with small patterns are very pretty. Bedchamber at Whitehall to have them. Dined at Mr. Hampden's in Harley St. with Mr. Osborne, Mr. Glover son to Leonidas & Mr. McDougal. Mrs. Hampden very ill. Read Sketches of Switzerland by Mr. Coxe tutor to Lord Herbert. Tour published by gentleman who travelled with Duke of Hamilton. Will acquaint himself with Lord Chatham on his return from Madrid. May consign M. Monmorin's watch to Colonel Mawherd's care, joining his Regiment at Gibraltar via Grantham in Spain. Clerk of King's Stables; bill upon Mr. Hoare drawn by Duke of Northumberland for £400.
