    Copy will of James Cranfield, 2nd Earl of Middlesex “being sicke of body “; - “to be privatly buryed neare my deare father deceased”; - bequeathing to his wife Ann “two of the best sutes of tappestry hangings which shee shall chuse and two of my best beds of furniture which shall bee likewise att her choyce together with her cupbords of plate, jewells, apparel” and £1,000; - bequeathing £200 per annum to his daughter Elizabeth until she became 16 when he bequeathed £7,000 as her portion; - bequeathing £200 per annum to his daughter Ann until she became 16 when he bequeathed £7,000 as her portion; - his wife to dispose his daughters’ education and dispose of their annuities as she saw fit; - bequeathing to Francis, Baroness Buckhurst [later Countess of Dorset], his sister £50 “to testifie notwithstandinge law suites beetwixte us I am att peace with her and fully reconciled”; - devising and bequeathing to his brother Lionel [later 3rd Earl of Middlesex] all his real and the residue of his personal estate on condition he satisfy the bequests above; if he refused to do so then devising Copthall [Essex] one third of his real estate and bequeathing all his personal estate to his wife and daughters; - nominating his mother, brother and Lionel his brother as executrices and executor; - witnesses: Edward Allston; William Isimbauld; John Willis; John Lam..lie
