    Update on letters. Transit time from England to Spain usually 14-17 days. Dined two evenings at Sackville St. with Mr. Dunning, Mr. Lee, Mr. Popham, Sir John Kage & Sir Thomas Shipwith firstly, second evening with Mr. Chichester, Sir Charles Daws & Sir Joshua Reynolds. Won at Picquet, lost three pounds at vingt un. Met Nanny at Sir Joshua's. Children sat for first time [Theresa & Jack Parker]. Also painting large picture of Nativity to be copied in glass for a window at New College. Curious comparison with that of Mengs. Sir Joshua's figures of Faith, Hope & Charity already copied for same Chapel. George Hardinge has taken house in Bedford Square, behind Great Russell St. near Oxford Road, houses good and cheap; all builders in the Fleet. Lady Robinson, Mrs. Mary Thornhill and Mr. & Mrs. H. Pelham all there. Describes Mrs. Hardinge & lifestyle, handsome but no lasting impression etc... At Almodobar's, large company, went with Wilbraham. Madame pleased with her Monde etc... Escarano sets out in a month. Mob response to Court Martial [Keppel?]. Universal illumination in Town about 12 p.m. Lord North's, Germaine's, Musgrave's and Bute's windows broken. Admiralty and Captain Hood's in Harley St. damaged. Interior of house in Pall Mall, formerly Sir Hugh Palliser's, entirely pulled to pieces. Many rioters secured, among the rest is Duke of Ancaster, drunk toasting Keppel. Changes in administration rumoured, nothing fundamental. Didn't go to Almack's as he doesn't dance. Reference to Spanish song: ‘Carmina turn melius cum venidril ipse ganemus’. Renewed acquaintance with Baron Nostitz.
