Fritz thinks lining of copper bottle, in which water iced, is lead; keep drinking water in glass or unglazed earthern ware. Eat three cheesecakes at Mr. Birch's. Bespoke Mr. Monmourin's watch. Describes design of Elliott's watches; outside case pierced to make bell more distinct etc... Saw Medal of the Order of the Garter for Lord Suffolk. Describes it, Sardoynx stone cost 70 guineas, overall cost £300 etc... Empress of Russia bought whole Houghton collection of pictures. Dined at Tom Pelham's with Mr. Cleveland & Colonel Haig. Pelham's & Middletons at Harry's in evening. Visits Chico at the White Horse in King St. Recovering from journey. Has got M. [adame] the D'arissa's flesh brushes, assured they are good ones etc... Dined at Mr. Aislabie's with Mrs. Allanson, Bishop of Oxford & Mrs. Butler, Miss Yates & Miss Waller. Gave them account of Inquisition. Mrs. Amney Mills left Bob Waller an estate in Buckinghamshire. Mrs. Aislabie paid £14 5s. for the wine. Miss Ellwell is to marry Captain Hervey. Wilbraham called. Thinks little girl [Theresa] from Saltram arrives in town tomorrow.
