Update on letters received, doesn't remember mentioning the silver Inkstand at Perez's. Still anxious about Grantham's health, advice for preserving it. Agrees with decision to go to Penafils ball. Discussion as to how their respective winters will be passed. What has been the matter with La Pierre? Any opportunity of speaking to Galvez about Diego? No recollection of M. Kiev[?] but glad to see if he brings something from Grantham. Headquarters in London to be Stratton St., aware that solitude of Whitehall after living with family may be unpleasant. Hamlyns left Saturday morning. Lord Shuldham & Captain La Forey dined. Will be informed if Mr. Heslop returns to Plymouth whilst Fritz still in country. Two young Bastards dined on Sunday. John doesn't seem about to be married but has "abundance of buttons, hearts & lockets in his Chitterlin". Mr. Cossin visited, he lives near Launceston, is often at Bath, knows Mademoiselle Molyneux and Gazola "though he did not invent gunpowder". Repair of fire damage; changing the laundry into a kitchen a good alteration. Children well.
