Lady Frankland currently receiving nothing from her American Estate due to the troubles. Cousin Will much the same as ever. Their visit must be returned at Munton [Muntham?], 17 miles off. Labourer killed by part of a wall he was taking down falling on him. Siere bled him but too late. Saw Rooms at Brighthelmstone with Lord Middleton and Harry. Old ones at ‘The Ship’ are improved, new one on the Steyne very handsome; 90 feet long, 50 wide & 45 high, capitals of columns irregular, ornament on pilasters mezquin. Lord Robert dined there, Lady Holland out of immediate danger, living at Old Windsor. James & Boothby going to Spa for summer. Saw John St. John on the Steyne. Swam this morning, dryest season for years. Tom Pelham with his company at Lewes. Duke of Richmond has taken a house at Brighthelmstone to be near his Militia. He & Lord Pelham trying their interest in the Church of Chichester, their differences must be determined in Westminster Hall. Mrs. & Miss Bannister drank tea. Mrs. Bannister to take leave. Miss Nancy stays with Lady Darby. Comments on latter's circumstances. Riding and bathing have destroyed Fritz's complexion. All the world waiting for news of French and English fleet. Reported that former gone to Cadiz.
