Thinks of Regiment of Light Dragoons being raised for Colonel Harcourt. Through Grantham's interest hopes to procure a troop or lieutenancy. Proper channel through Lord Weymouth & Lord Barrington. Perhaps a letter of recommendation from Grantham etc. [details of episode follow]. Weymouth could assist with commission but impossible for higher rank. Fritz asks Grantham's opinion. Went to Stanmer via Ryegate with Lord Pelham and Tom. Details of his stay. Alterations to house, [description of alterations].
