    Parties: (i) Robert Butcher of Saint George, Bloomsbury [Middlesex], esquire; Frances, his wife; (ii) Samuel Davis of Woburn, gentleman; (iii) John, Duke of Bedford Operative Part: - (iii) paid £370/1/- to (i); - (iii) paid 10 shillings to (ii); - (i) and (ii) at the request of (i), released (a)-(d) to (iii) Property: (a) cottage called Cople Dog in Cople with two pightles of pasture adjoining and containing four acres; (b) three acres of arable in the common fields of Cople and occupied with (a); (a)-(b) formerly in the occupation of Robert Samuel, now Robert Larkins; (c) close of pasture in Cople formerly in the occupation of John Jones, now Robert Larkins containing 1½ acres lying near and formerly belonging to the dwelling formerly of Stephen Harding, then Thomas Middleton, now of [blank] divided by a hedge from the ground of [blank] used as hempland; (d) ½ acre of arable and sweard formerly in the occupation of John Jones, now Robert Larkins in Brookfield, Cople, abutting N on a meadow called High Mead and S on pightle formerly in the occupation of John Warner, then Robert Richardson, now [blank]; (a)-(d) purchased by Robert Butcher from Thomas Pearson; (e) cottage in Cople formerly in the occupation of Thomas Sperry then Thomas Copperwheat, now John Woolley; (f) two closes of pasture adjoining (e) containing 3 acres, in occupation of John Woolley, in Cople between ground formerly of Matthew Watts, gentleman, now of – Cressey N; tenement late of John Mennard S; common street E; furlong abutting into Cardington highway W (g) common for two beasts in the common fields of Cople; (h) cottage and one rood of ground formerly in the occupation of Thomas Battison, now John Prentice in Cople, next: street W; tenement and ground formerly of William Arden and tenement formerly of Matthew Watts N; (i) one cow common in the common fields of Cople belonging to (h); (e)-(i) conveyed to Robert Butcher by John Nicholls of Maulden, husbandman, only son and heir of Margaret Nicholls, deceased (one of two sisters of and co-heirs of Thomas Copperwheat of Cople, weaver, deceased), only brother and heir of Mary Fossey, (formerly Mary Nicholls, devisee in the will of Thomas Copperwheat) and Elizabeth, his wife and by Ann Nicholls of Great Woolstone [Buckinghamshire], spinster; (j) six acres of arable dispersed in the fields of Cople in occupation of [blank] i.e. (1) N end of one half acre land in Long Dodmore Furlong in Blackland Field containing one rood abutting N on Cambridge Way Furlong with land of the Duke of Marlborough E, W and S; (2) two half acre lands in Short Dodmore abutting N on Dodmore Ditch with land of Duke of Marlborough W and of John Foskett E; (3) one half acre land in Close End Furlong, Blackland Field, abutting W on Town Closes with land of Duke of Marlborough N and S; (4) one half acre land in the lower shot in Great Homer in Blackland Field abutting W on furlong at Green Close Corner and E on the upper shot in Great Homer with land of the Duke of Marlborough N and S; (5) two half acre lands in Hooe Field in Middle Furlong abutting N on Ditch Furlong with land of Duke of Marlborough E and John Fosket W; (6) half acre land in South End of (5) in Bean Land Furlong abutting S on Hooe Piece with land of Duke of Marlborough E and John Fosket W; (7) one land and a half called Three Roods in Middle Furlong in Park Field abutting on Nunsway Furlong, land of Duke of Marlborough E and John Fosket W; (8) three half acre lands in Longland Furlong in Park Field abutting S on Middle Furlong and n on Ditch Furlong with land of Duke of Marlborough E and W; all of which were purchased by Robert Butcher from Edward Eastwell of Bedford, Thomas Pell of Bromham, labourer, Richard Pell of Weston Lodge [Hertfordshire], labourer (brother of Thomas Pell), William Purser of Ravensden, labourer, Thomas Dawson of Oakley, labourer and Mary, his wife (lately Mary Purser), William Drage of Oakley, miller and Elizabeth, his wife (lately Elizabeth Purser) Covenant: - by (i) to levy a fine sur cognizance de droit come ceo etc to (iii) to bar dower of Frances Butcher Witnesses: - G Stephenson; - -W Tregagle; - John Stokes, clerk to W Tregagle; - John Bemis[?]
