    Correspondence for T. Robinson from Smith and Cooper. Surprised that T. Robinson doesn't know exact date of departure from Saltram. Money from Nesbitt received. New Excise Office gets on fast, the bank [?] almost finished, Newgate goes slowly. Durham Yard fast; centre for upper arch and side street laid, passage to House of Commons finished before Christmas. Past 5 pm and father not up, Sir Clifton there this morning to try and persuade him to get up, legs weaker, face better, disorder abated. Sir William [Robinson] satisfied about execution of deeds. George Hardinge gone to Stratford upon Avon, great part of Club there. Lord Carlisle's house open. Lord Fitzwilliam's death will bring Lord Fitz to town. Note from Pelhams to Mrs. Stainforth says Tom fine. Assumes T. Robinson written to Harmer. Mr. Draper will not believe that the post comes in & out from Saltram daily. Have you seen the Comet? Days bill of fare: Soupe aux oeufs, Blanquette de Veau, Leg of Mutton & Cucumbers, Apples etc. Met Hilario[?] in Park. Postponing laying carpet and moving furniture into chambers until smell of paint gone off. Nanny's bed gone to be washed. At Queen's house last Saturday. Buckingham Gate pulled down to make a drain there, "a grand mammock & squash & generally a mob".
