    Deed Poll [in Latin] by Francis, 2nd Earl of Bedford, granting to Sir William Russell, Thomas Snagge, sergeant-at-law, Lewis Dyve, esquire, Michael Hawtrey, Thomas Duncombe, William Duncombe and Hugh Vaughan, gentlemen, William Beeley, John Stanton and John Barnes junior, yeomen a piece of land measuring 58 feet in length and 26 feet in width formerly in occupation of John Makant, in Abbot’s Woburn [Abbotte Woobourne] whereon a free school is built to have, hold and possess the land and free school; appointing Edmund Harrington and John Hussey, gentlemen as his attorneys to deliver seisin. Witnessed by Henry Vincent, George Whetstone, G Taske and John Crofte; delivery of seisin witnessed on 25th November 1582 by Thomas Gamble, Thomas Stanton, Francis Stanton, Stephen Ball, William Darby, John Halsey, Edward Pickering, John Johnson, Thomas Ashton, Thomas Tomes, John Crompton and William Crompton.
