- TitleFrom Thomas Pelham to 2nd Baron Grantham, Whitehall, London:
- Date free text28 Jun 1780
- Production dateFrom: 1780 To: 1780
- Scope and ContentIf Pelham had not recently seen his father, he would have been more prompt in replying to Grantham's letter. It is also true that he has not time to write, since on his first arrival he was every other day on duty in the camp, and with the Duke of Richmond and Colonel Hay absent, Pelham's regiment has been much in his mind, though he assures Grantham that he is often remembered. If Grantham remains in Town long, he may see Pelham, as he intends to go to London for a day or two; or if Grantham goes to Stanmer, he hopes he will take the Horsham road which would bring him within a mile of the camp. Pelham longs to see Lady Mary [Grantham’s new wife], as the descriptions he has had of her are not satisfactory. Fritz must look out for a dairy farm now in his own defence, and Pelham thinks that Dr Moyray would assume of the regularity of a farmer's life.
