  • Scope and Content
Has seen both Mr Yenn and Mr Barrett since Frederick Robinson's last letter. Mr Barrett will not take less than £2200 but the purchase will proceed, unless Frederick Robinson should have altered his intention from the information contained in Oddie's last letter that the house is held by lease of which 50 years and about 8 months are now to come subject to a ground rent of £24 a year. Oddie has been at Mr Boldero's and at the bank, and finds that a proper extract of the act of court will serve to be produced at the bank and therefore he has bespoken one and hopes the letter of attorney may go to Sir James by the next mail. Finds that the lease is held under the governors of Christ Hospital and cannot be assigned without their licence, which he believes will be granted. An assignment of the lease, without regard to the Trust, is to be made by the solicitor's clerk to the Governor, who happens to be out of town at present but is expected very shortly. The house is in mortgage for £1500 to Mr Pratt, whom Oddie understands is not willing to take his money without 6 months notice, but to remove this difficulty Mr Barrett has proposed to him another security which is now under the consideration of his surveyor and solicitor.
