Refers to Messrs Joyes who have requested that his Lordship speak to Mr Galways, the Minister of India, to recommend the affair of Messrs Franco, merchants in London, depending with Messrs Mindinuita [?] & Company. States that there is an extremely well written printed manifest, which he will send to his Lordship if the Minister of India chooses to pursue it. It is presently in the hands of five councillors whose names are listed as: Marco Riminos, Rafael Antunes, Tocabo Anto Huerta, Joseph Anto Cerda and Philipe Santos Dominguez. It is probable that they will pass their definitive sentence next week without understanding the true merits of the affair which are a little confused and perplexed. Mr Galway is stated as being the only person who knows or understands the affair. Messrs Joyes expect his Lordship will recommend that the five learned Councillors do justice to Messrs Franco who have suffered considerably for many years in the whole transaction, through deprivation of cash and the heavy expense of a tedious lawsuit. Has used his utmost endeavour with these gentlemen who are now to determine the lawsuit. Is convinced that they do not understand what they may boldly venture to pass sentence on. Informs Grantham that Mr Marquilli arrived here some days ago and was with him this morning. Marquilli tells him that he has got his Lordship a fine picture of St Peter's.
