    Identification is based on location and on comparison with photograph in Z603/1.
  • Archival history
    Found by the Misses Gillett in a wooden box in the building that had been the Church School until 1871 and then a reading room. The building was bought by the Misses Gillett in 1965 and the painting was one of the things they cleared out of the cupboards. They gave it to Bedfordshire County Council in March 1985 on the advice of Bedford Museum.
