Received Mickle's letter of 4 December, and has since paid the draft for £100. Will let him know whether he will be able to pay another £50 next month or not. Is sorry to hear that about 250 yards of the wall near the head of the canal has fallen in - thinks that the work must have been very badly executed, and hopes Mickle will agree that whoever undertook the work should make it good at his own expense.
