Scope and Content
Under marriage settlement made with his first wife Ann Wayland trustees to raise £10,000 for portions of all chidren of that marriage and their children. £2000 as part of that sum to be paid to his brothers-in-law Mark Wayland and John Wayland as trustees with discretion to use up to half of the money for the advancement of his son Henry Buckeridge, remainder to be divided between any children of his son Henry; reversion to his son John Buckeridge. Remainder of this estate to go to his son John Buckeridge.
Under another deed of settlement dated 15 March 1753 certain property at St Giles in the Fields (Middx), farm known as St. Johns in Herts and copyhold proemises at Cuffley (Herts) was settled to his use for life and afterwards to children of his first marriage, with option to use as a jointure. These estates granted to son John Buckeridge subject to jointure to his current wife.
Marriage settlement on 2nd marriage to Catherine provides her with jointure of £400 p.a. and £10,800 to be divided equally among children of the marriage.
Also bequeaths
- £200 to his son John
- £100 p.a. to his wife Catherine in addition to her jointure for so long as she remains a widow
- to wife Catherine all jewels, diamonds, china, plate, furniture and other household goods, his coach, carriages and horses, all liquors and other goods in his cellars, and £300
- £20 to each of his four children by his second wife (named as Catherine, Charles Allen, Richard Henry and Joseph) for a piece of mourning
Wife Catherine Buckeridge and brothers-in-law Mark Weyland and Joseph Pinfold appointed executors and trustees to dispose of any remaining income for maintenance and education of his children.
