- Scope and Contentacknowledging receipt of letter of 13th instant, which reached Legorn on night of the 17th. H.M.'s minister at Turin had forwarded a letter on the same subject addressed to him by Miss St John of St Faith's, near Norwich. A person has been commissioned to search for a will of the late Mr Oliver St John, and the search has been hampered by Carnival and Ash Wednesday. Have now examined the index from 1738, but no trace of a will. There was only one of the name of St John, and that was a lady. Searched also at Florence, as he was said to have been possessed of estates in England, Ireland and Tuscany. However, those records date back only to 1786. He then visited the state Record Office which dates back to 716 A.D., and consulted the index of land transfers in the Florence jurisdiction from 1754 to 1760, without seeing Mr St John's name. Needs more information as to Notary etc. Suggests using a Florentine Solicitor, Dr Francisco Daddi
