- TitleSent from Sir John Lambert in Paris:
- Date free text7 Jun 1777
- Production dateFrom: 1777 To: 1777
- Scope and ContentReceived Grantham's letter of 10 March, and as instructed, has inquired both from Lord Stormont's and from every other person Grantham's late servant Stedman was acquainted with at Paris, whether they had any effects belonging to him, but they all declare having nothing. Lord Stormont's confectioner, who was a particular friend of Stedman at Paris directed Lambert to some other people in Paris to whom he has also applied, but with no success at all. Now has no hopes of making any discovery. The reason for the delay in answering Grantham's letter is that the man whom Lambert was told could give some intelligence about Stedman's effects, was absent from Lord Stormont's, as well as another man with whom he was very intimate. Grantham will have heard of the Emperor's success in France, and that Mr. Deckoumarin is to replace Mr. Dossum. Compliments to Mr. Robinson.
