    Appoints James Maddams, victualler and Smauel Burrows, carpenter, both of Clophill as executors – each to have £5. Gives: - all household effects and his wearing apparel except as below to his wife Sarah Pain; - best suit of clothes and watch to grandson Caleb Cooper; - house in which he resides to his wife Residue of estate to be in trust for 1 year and income to pay his debts, funeral and other expenses, with any balance to his wife. After one year: - tenement adjoining his dwelling house in occupation of Stephen Bedford in trust for his wife and heirs; - house in Maulden now occupied by Thomas Kempson to raise £25 by mortgage charge or by letting payable to executors; subject to this Thomas Kempson to be permitted to stay in the house until his youngest child reaches age 21. Children named as George, John, Mary Ann, Rebecca and Elizabeth Kempson, grandchildren of testator. Then in trust for these grandchildren in equal shares. - house in Maulden now occupied by Wilder Daniels in trust for four grandchildren George, John, Hannah and Caleb Cooper; - house in Maulden occupied by his son-in-law Isaac Currington with adjoining tenement occupied by John Sharp, in trust to permit his daughter Ann Currington for her lifetime to occupy or take proceeds for her sole use independent of any debts or engagements of her husband; after her death in trust for grandson John Kempson on payment to executors of £30; - tenements in Maulden occupied by William Brazier and James Izzard in trust for six grandchildren Mary, Isaac, Richard, Hannah, John and Susanna Bunker Two sums of £25 and £30 mentioned above to be used for the benefit of the wife and children of his grandson Charles Upton. Witnesses: W. Daniel; George Austin, solicitor, Shefford Codicil dated 23 February 1843: Trust in favour of his five grandchildren George, John Mary Ann, Rebecca and Elizabeth Kempson to include their sister Rachael. Witnesses: George Austin, John Tingey. Codicil dated 21 November 1844: Having borrowed £40 on part of his estate in the tenure of Thomas Kempson, that sum and interest due to be payable from the estate. This to supersede liability of estate to contribute a year’s rent towards the general fund. Witnesses: Wilder Daniel, George Austin.
