- Scope and ContentReceived Grantham's letters of 4 July and 14 August. Would have replied sooner, but waited to see Mr Grissard and pay him the 1510 Reals Vellon as ordered, for which they send his receipt of 20 October. Following Grantham's directions, Joyes have drawn for the little balance of his account £17:8:11 at 30 days date, payable to the order of Edward Mayne Esq. which Grantham should order to be discharged. Joyes waited upon Don Rodrigo de Sousa on his way through Madrid to Lisbon. He promised to try to satisfy his deceased father's creditors as best and as soon as he could, but that in particular, the debt of 25,000 Reals Vellon due to Grantham should be discharged by him. Wishes Grantham felicity and happiness in his marriage. 23 October 1780 **Enclosed. [Text in French]: Received from Messrs.
