  • Scope and Content
Have received Grantham's letter of yesterday, and according to his orders, have made good in account to Messrs. duff and Welsh of Cadiz the sum of 2024 Reals, and given them advice of it last night. Enclose a note of Grantham's account current for the last month, and send the balance by the bearer. Thanks Grantham for the letter he sent them. It is from Doctor Achmet, and it is enclosed for his perusal. Also a copy of Joyes letter to him of 11 November 1776, by which Grantham will see that the orders concerning 33 suits of Irish Poplins for which he sent him a commission, were in no way ambiguous, yet somehow a duplicate was made out and sent to Grantham. However, this mistake is now of no importance, the Poplins except a few pieces being disposed of. Doctor Achmet mentions nothing in his letters with regard to his reimbursement for the Poplins, so if Grantham agrees, Joyes will write by the first post to their friends in Dublin, and order them to pay him on receipt of their letter.
