- Production dateFrom: 1783 To: 1783
- Scope and ContentFrench Minister has acquainted Grantham of French intention to call home their Fleets, especially from West Indies, and is anxious to receive assurance of similar measures on British part. Grantham gave him general assurance that the same Plan will be pursued, but asks Howe for authorization to say anything more particular before M. de Rayneval returns to Paris tomorrow. French ratifications have arrived; Spanish ones expected at Paris today, and will probably be here in two or three days. Asks for Howe's opinion on the "periods to be assigned for rendering Captures with regard to them illegal." Grantham will wait on Lord Howe tomorrow at twelve, or meet him at Whitehall if he comes to the Admiralty at that hour, to talk over these and other points.
