- Scope and ContentHis brother is travelling to Gibraltar where he joins his regiment, and hopes to call on Grantham in Madrid. Regrets that he and his brother left Britain, and due to their departure “the Tuesday night club” has disbanded. Mentions Frederick, 5th Earl of Carlisle has a new son, [George, born 17 September 1773]. Pleased he enjoyed the strong beer which he sent to Madrid, and hopes to find a Spanish ship to sent a further supply. However he comments, “pray don’t let me send any more, but come and drink of it at the fountain’s head - Remember it is two years and an half since you left us, and all your friends think it a century...”
