Hazel Jellis, later Hazel Hitch, was born in 1961 and appears in a list of 1st Arlesey Explorers for 1968-1970. She gradually worked her way up the ranks, including achieving a Queen's Award in 1980. She left the Arlesey group after 27 years' service to start up the 2nd Biggleswade group which opened on 13 April 1994.
