- Admin/biog historyJoy Newman was born on the 16th January 1921. Her parents were Frank Bertram Newman (1872-1930), farmer of West End Farm, Kempston and his wife Mary Jane. F B Newman had married Mary Jane Jefferson in 1905 and they had three children: Bertram (1907-1933), Kathleen (1912-1932) and Joy (1921-2009). On the 4th February 1948 Joy married Edward Joseph Crichton Brown (known as Joe Brown). Joe Brown (1909-2002) was an accountant. At the time of her marriage 27 year old Joy lived at 47 Devon Road, Bedford. The couple went to live in Baldock. Joy Brown died on the 19 October 2009.
- Archival historyThese items were gifted to the archives by Baldock Museum. The Boer war medals of F B Newman, which were included, were transferred to Bedford Museum.
