Scope and Content
The King of Spain/Portugal?? died yesterday "and immediately her present majesty Queen Mary assumed the reins of Government". An amnesty for political prisoners is announced, i.e. for "all whose offences respected (the King's) immediate person". Bishop of Cimbra (?) released, as well as members of the Tavera family implicated in the plot to assassinate the king.
The Prince of Beira married his youngest aunt, the infanta Donna Maria Francesca Benedicta. Problems with the arrack, to be got from India House.
