"Having at last receiv'd official accounts from Mr Fox of his nomination, I am enabled to redispatch Needham" and to thank Grantham for his letters. Sends politically sensitive replies through different channels. The Court is concerned with its own internal crises. A Turkish war seems inevitable. Sorry that Carew objects to leaving England to fill Harris's post in July: "if they send a rude, unlicked John Bull everything will go wrong". Hopes to be in London around October. Intends returning via Moscow, the Ukraine, Kiev (?), South of Poland and Vienna. Otherwise through Prussia and Germany. Hopes to see Grantham.
