- Scope and ContentMy Lord's summer nightgown, a not unimportant business. Has sent "the prettiest chintz" via the French ambassador Mr de Blosset. Mr d'Almodorar setting out for Madrid. News from England: Duke of Richmond moved an address to persuade the king that it was impossible to support the war in America, troops and fleet should be withdrawn. Lord Chatham violently opposed. Chatham, replying further to Richmond's answer fell into a convulsion and had to be carried out; later recovered. House of Commons ordered in bills for Irish free trade. Spanish and Portuguese items are now able to enter Ireland without touching an English port to pay duty. Despite the Dutch Gazettes emphasising English losses in America, a ship just arrived from Philadelphia in 30 days reported all quiet, including the river Delaware. Desires to hear of Mr Robinson.
