- Scope and ContentContinues unimpressed by Berlin, although in good health and spirits. Passes the time not disagreeably, but still convinced that "had I but the Spanish Sun and something else Spanish whom I love more than the light of the Sun I should be without a want". Compares the German Masquerade unfavourably with the Spanish. Feels anti-Swedish at the moment "since these last two or three months". The Marigita and the manager have quarrelled, Grimaldi has lost the flower of his troop. Wedding preparations for the Landgrave of Hesse: the King of Prussia's lavish expenditure. The French play "goes on swimmingly". "The German play appears to me to have much merit but I own the language breaks my teeth and fleas my ears. "Will start to learn the language. Lords Conway and Beauchamp are "still rambling". Encloses a packet for Madame de Koenigregg. Compliments to Grantham's brother and the Young Gentleman. Lastly, "I am so well as to have incres'd in size the breadth of four fingers since the 19 February last".
