Thanks for letter of 20 September received 12th. Thanks for placing Waddilove at Topcliffe. He would have set out at once for induction and institution but on information "of the Time of the late Mr Cowper's Death, it appears that the Presentation to Topcliffe, would be in his Father's disposal no longer than the first of November"; impossible to return by then so presume Mr Cowper's presentation lapses to Archbishop, therefore "depend upon the Continuance of your Goodness" and extend this to time of his return.
