- Scope and ContentReceived letter of 21st October and delivered enclosure to Signor Luigi and instructed him immediatley to begin ornamenting the china (...?) vases with gilt bronze according to the estimate he had given Mr Pelham. Will be finished by 25 December and acknowledges receipt of 30 roman crowns in advance - when finished a proper case shall be made for them. The scagliola work of the Plateau was finished 3 weeks ago as well as they do it but have not done justice to the design. Gilt bronze frame by Signor Luigi nearly finished and will have proper case to contain the 3 pieces of which the plateau is composed. Mr Pelham said "Your Lordship would inform if you chose to have alabaster vases or any ornaments made to put into it" and that you would give orders re your portrait by Mr Mengs who is now here and far from well but better than on arrival from Spain.
