    Has received Lord Grantham's letter with reference to Lord Fife's application to enclose with a wall the muddy bank in front of his ground. "I had in full Contemplation Your House and Interest when I made my report; and in particular mentioned a Clause to prevent his erecting any building, planting any tree or even Shrub to intercept Your prospect" ... "not only more agreeable to you to look over a fine turf instead of a dirty beach but give you in some future time an opportunity of extending your own premisses into the River". Also referred it to the Board of Works where was certain Mr Worsley would take particular care of your Interest "'tho not with more Concern for it than I had".
