Thanks for letters of 20th and 27th last, latter enclosing 1 year's leave of absence, and for further recommendation to Count Ricla; as remaining part of family in Mexico hopes to obtain some post there "so as to live amongst them..." "the Vice King in Mexico is powerfull and has many posts in his gift, a recomendatory Letter might induce him to confer one on me". Sets off 1st of next month "for the Havanna in the Pacquet"... "from which there are many opportunities for Vera Cruz.
