- Scope and Content"Last post brought me an account from Mexico of my honored Father's decease; and that my only Brother lay dangerously ill upward of one hundred leagues from hence; my grief is much augmented when I consider that an only sister who is in Mexico and now an Orphan has no relation to comfort her and perhaps no one to secure the Patrimony of our Father." Asks for influence to get Lieutenancy in one of the Regiments at Mexico or else a year's leave of absence to settle family affairs.
