- Scope and ContentKinsman Dr Abercromby residing in Mexico for many years, has son John an ensign or Lieutenant in General Bailey's regiment in Cadiz - asks for recommendation to the General and Count de Oreily [??] in Madrid for promotion in Spanish service. A most curious book "A magazine of learning relative to America" available only in Madrid: Sollorranus [??] de Jure et Gubernations Indiarum, 2 quarto volumes; referred to in Dr Strahass preface to Donata Civil Law; saw it in Colonel Bladius Library (he had it from Spain when Secretary to Lord Gallway's Embassy). After searching in vain in London and Holland, by chance found it in Osborne's Catalogue of Colonel Bladius Books, bought it for 1 guinea; 2 years ago met with another which book seller David Wilson bought and presented it to the Kings Library as a very rare book; "the Editions I have seen are very old and erroneously printed, it is worth your Lordship's curiosity to buy this book and give it place in your collection as a Repository of American Matter."
