- Scope and ContentTent pitched within 10 yards of shore, high and steep; 1½ miles to rapids and fort; rebels set fire to castle but does not show at distance [sketch plan]. Dine under bower, quite Arcadian, 30´ x 20´, front of open arches and colonnade; frame finished with strong timbers, whose covered with green boughs. Landed at Quebec 29 May, Governor was at Champlain; troops proceeding up river, rebels hastily retired; took abut 300 prisoners. General Burgoyne landed at Sorell with 4 regiments and 6 cannon; rebels too nimble; men in good spirits after march of 50 miles. We are building bateaux. Have been to Montreal twice; danced at ball with savages. Incident of brave woman and rebels.
