Herbert & I. V. Herbert rent 8d (3) - cottage in Shortmead Street or Shortmead End Biggleswade : South premises Henry Williams formerly in occupation of Benjamin Ford, then Thomas Beaumont then William Hughes then Richard Hide to which John Foster was admitted 7-8 April 1818 on surrender of Henry Squires rent 6d (4) - tenement in High Street Biggleswade with maltings & other buildings adjoining formerly in occupation of John Carrington bricklayer & John Barber then John Carrington & John Foster : East house of William Pedley : West house formerly of Edward Rudd late Samuel West then Joseph Meen & wife Elizabeth to which John Foster was admitted 27-8 April 1821 on surrender of John Barber & Edward Lindsell & wife Elizabeth rents: 1s 6½d & 1s 6½d (5) - land in Shortmead Street or Shortmead End Biggleswade fenced off from ground of Joseph Hickson & tenement shop & outhouses belonging formerly occupied by Henry Williams then Catherine Williams & small house, shop & warehouse & stable adjoining formerly occupied by Edward Rawlins then Thomas Williams to which John Foster was admitted 1 May 1840 on surrender of Catherine Williams & another rent 6d recites will of John Foster dated 6 February 1847 devising: - Beaumonts Close 5½ acres late estate of Edward Rudd with capital messuage, stables, buildings & appurtenances erected by John Foster thereon & in which he resided with fixtures & garden late site of a messuage, which was estate of Henry Squires - house & shop adjoining in occupation of William Sandon - messuages in Biggleswade late in occupation of Joseph West & Thomas Samuel - all his estate at Biggleswade formerly of John Barber & Edward Lindsell part occupied as a British School, rest in occupation of John Jefferies & others subject to several sums of money charged in said will to use of Blyth Foster for life, remainder as in will testator died 7 July 1847
