    i) Eleanor Mallison of Wendover, Buckinghamshire, widow, relict of William Mallison, late of the same, gentleman, deceased ii) John Barber of Broom in Southill, gentleman in £500 recites: X440/505a whereas: William Mallison is dead leaving i); only issue of said marriage is Thomas Mallison of Wendover aforesaid, surgeon, the eldest son & James Mallison aged 15, the only younger son who is therefore by virtue of the aforesaid surrender entitled to the inheritance on death of i) whereas: "by the late dreadful fire" at Biggleswade 16 June last said maltings & other outbuildings "were almost entirely consumed and destroyed but the aforesaid Messuage or Tenement was preserved"; it is more advantageous for i) & her son James to dispose of the site where the burnt down buildings stood than to repair and rebuild the same i) has contracted with ii) for sale of messuage, or such part thereof as remains undestroyed & the site of the malting & other buildings with such parts of them as remain together with all bricks, tiles & other old materials belonging to the same for £170 conditioned for surrender of premises to ii) when James Mallison attains 21 signature: i) witness: Thomas Mallison, H.O.
