Scope and Content
i) Sir Francis Willes of Charles Street, Berkeley Square & also of Hampstead, both in Middlesex, Lord of the Manor of Biggleswade
ii) Cornelius Pateman Herbert of Setch, Norfolk, brewer
Nathaniel Vincent Herbert of Girtford, merchant
whereas: ii) are seised of copyhold premises of said manor & i) has agreed to enfranchise premises hereinafter described
now: in consideration of: £55.13.6 paid by ii) to i), i) releases & confirms to ii)
- new erected capital messuage with yards, gardens, orchards, stables, coachhouses & appurtances in occupation of William Walker esquire & since of Miss Burgoyne & 2 cottages adjoining in occupation of George Ibbott & William Rhodes in Shortmead Street in Biggleswade
- close of meadow behind said messuage extending backwards as far as river
- 7 roods meadow in Long Mead otherwise Rhee Mead in Biggleswade

- 2 parcels meadow containint 1 acre 2 roods in Back Meadow in Biggleswade in occupation of William Hughes
- 2 acres meadow part of close of 5 acres in Back Meadow of Biggleswade
- remainder of said close
- stable in Biggleswade
: South or South East messuage William Brunt & Crown Inn Yard
: East or North East John Downe & wife Anne
: North or North West Back Lane
- toft on Market Hill of Biggleswade fronting the Crown Inn aforesaid
whereon several shops sometime since burnt down once stood
to a moiety of which each of ii) were admitted at court 29 & 30 April 1808 on surrender & will of George Herbert their brother deceased
ii) to hold their respective moieties absolutely enfranchised & free of all customary payments etc to manor of Biggleswade
further: right of common on common lands belonging to said manor which belongs to said copyhold messuage & hereditaments shall continue to belong to them & be enjoyed by ii) & it is hereby conveyed by i) to ii)
