- Scope and Content8 July 1793 Will of William Yarley of Biggleswade, victualler, devising to his friends Samuel Wells of Biggleswade, brewer & Robert Wale of Clarence Place, Pentonville, Middlesex, gentleman: - all his freehold & copyhold in Biggleswade & Langford on trust to sell & stand possessed of purchase money 29 & 30 October 1790 Admission of Samuel Wells & Robert Wale as heirs of William Yarley - cottage, barn, hogsty & orchard, 3 roods in the Backside, Biggleswade adjoining the Saffron Ground - horse common & common for 2 cows & a yearling in Biggleswade common - liberty to fetch & draw water at the well belonging to the premises paying half the cost of maintaining & upholding the well all of which premises were late in occupation of Thomas Haynes then of John Page & to which William Yarley was admitted 23-4 April 1782 on surrender of Thomas Price 14 May 1790 Absolute Surrender by Samuel Wells & Robert Wale to use of John Grigg of Biggleswade, yeoman for life then to Alice Grigg his wife for life then to their children - property as above 21-22 October 1794 Admission of John Grigg to the property 23-24 April 1811 Admission of John Grigg the son, Henry Wagstaffe Grigg & Ann Grigg, the children of John & Alice Grigg both deceased 8 August 1832 Conditional Surrender by John Grigg of Stevenage, Hertfordshire, blacksmith to Thomas Morton for £72.11.0 of: his THIRD PART in: - cottage, barn & orchard & hogsty 3 roods in the Backside, Biggleswade adjoining Saffron Ground - horse common & common for 2 cows & a yearling - liberty to fetch & draw water paying half the cost of its maintenance (which premises were late in occupation of Thomas Haynes since of John Page then & for many years Robert Barker) 24 August 1832 Indenture recites: that John Grigg is entitled to another third of the above as heir of his brother & has surrendered the premises in consideration: £85.9.0 paid by Thomas Morton - all right & equity of redemption of John Grigg in the property 17 July 1815 Certificate of Marriage of Ann Grigg & John Wilson of Hatfield, Hertfordshire 24 August 1832 Absolute Surrender by John Wilson of Bishop's Hatfield, tailor & wife Ann to Thomas Morton for £19.19.0 ...their third part in said property 3 May 1833 Admission of Thomas Morton to the premises surrendered by the Wilsons 3 May 1833 Admission of Thomas Morton to the premises surrendered by John Grigg 29 June 1840 Will of Thomas Morton, devising: freehold & leasehold estates to George & James Newbery on trust to sell them & the money to be disposed of as set out in will copyhold estates to be disposed of as above & trustees should be at liberty to postpone the sale of his estates until the produce should become distributable under the trusts executors: wife, Mary, George & James Newbery 24 May 1841 Testator died [endorsed: lot 3]
