  • Scope and Content
Mama mends daily, and Dr. Knighton deserves great praise for the skill he has shown. The writer also considers some part of her Mother's recovery is due to the 'frequent aquatic excursions she has made', and to the climate at Antony. Mrs C Yorke [Harriet] has recently been at Port Eliot, from which she did not suffer at all - 'a great proof of her amendment.' Since then, she has visited Mount Edgcumbe with Mrs [Caroline] Eliot. 'We carried out dinner with us and eat [sic] it in a little arbour, which would have been very delightful if some teasing little flies had not made great havoc amongst us...' Have had the pleasure of Mr & Mrs Henry Brooksbanks company for the last fortnight. Mama went a second time to Mount Edgcumbe with them, and afterwards to the dock yard and went out in the cutter on the 17th October, an uncommon thing at this time of year. The writer was much pleased with the voyage. Comments about the good weather. [Note Mount Edgcumbe was the home of Richard Edgcumbe, 2nd Earl of Mount Edgcumbe]
