- Scope and ContentI was made very miserable yesterday by Dr Fordyce's coming to let us know that my dear Polwarth was so much worse that he thought it impossible for him to hold it much longer. I am in constant anxiety and expect to hear of his death by every knock at the door. I feel for you, dear Lady Bell; but you have all your friends still alive to be a comfort to you, and are young enough to make fresh connections; but what is my situation, deprived of my only child, and no near relations of my own but one sister. But let us both trust in God's mercy. Whenever the melancholy event does happen, we desire you will order his body to be carried down to be buried in Polwarth church.
