- Scope and ContentNeglected Newmarket; change of weather. and Knight, Lord Spencer's huntsman, coming to Woburn determined me. Saturday killed a fox. The gentlemen of Tower's hunt were with us; civil about our agreement as to country. Go tomorrow to Althorp; then to dinner at Thrapstone, hunt Tuesday and Thursday; travelling in chaise with own horses. Friday visit old Noel; hounds; thence to Duke of Rutland's, where Meynell says I can get something good; then to Lord Fitzwilliam's; then home. Scott is keeping term at Lincoln's Inn. Our Woburn party began, continued and ended most comfortably; my share of expense did not come to £25 for fortnight. Bad sport not peculiar, for Meynell (who just drank tea here with me) gave as bad an account of the Duke of Grafton's and several other packs. Accident to mare. Young Hawkins (tenant of Fielden, the Abdy's share) totally broke.
