- Scope and ContentBlack gown went by Tuesday waggon. Longer mourning: death of old Mrs Cocks, Sir Charles Cocks' mother. Don't think you need wear in country. Will get you a black nightgown, but nothing can carry it to you before Tuesday. Sack trimmed with lace not improper. Linen: worked or plain muslin, gauzes, plain or striped, fringed or edged, made-up plain or trimmed with gauze or ribbon or tiffany may all be worn. A month, perhaps 3 weeks black buckles ribbons etc., and one week coloured ribbons etc.; for caps, all dressed caps of gauze, bit of black or white ribbon makes the all fit, and worked round ruffles and aprons.
