... park or late park called Ampthill Great Park in Ampthill, Millbrook and Houghton, parcel of the manor and honour of Ampthill, abutting E. and S. upon the Warren of Ampthill, W. and N. upon Millbrook fields, and in other parts of N. upon Houghton fields, partly upon the common way from Ampthill to Millbrook, and towards E. and S. in part upon common way from Ampthill to Houghton, in other part upon Houghton Park; containing 600 acres 1 rood; with messuage or mansion house called the Great Lodge in the part of the park in Ampthill; also a brick building called the Strand in the park, near the Warren of Ampthill towards the S.; messuage or lodge called the Little Lodge in the park near the highway leading from Ampthill gate to the Great Lodge towards the NW.
Ashburnham has assigned, (9 August 1661), to Chester, Taylor and Hanson in trust for the Earl of Elgin [Robert Bruce, Earl of Ailesbury]
