- Scope and ContentReceived letter from Paris. Made personal appearance last night at royal christening, Lady Margaret there. This being 12th opportunity, shame not to have seen it; number of fine pleasing children, not all beauties, but none amiss, air of good humour and yet decorum; prince much grown, very genteel figure; youngest boy charming; 2 eldest princesses uncommonly genteel and fashioned for their ages, quite in fashion, eldest like queen; 2nd very pretty; little girl under 2 petit bijou, laughing and jumping and dancing whole time, held on stool and neither frighted nor tired. Baby cried whole time, believe all pins in dress running into it. After ceremony, all company edged up beside queen's bed to be spoke to, king went round talking; little boys romped, laughed and played among themselves. Majesties enquired after the Polwarth's.
