  • Scope and Content
Her health - prefers country. We have been at Mrs Child's assembly (saw Heathcotes etc.); yesterday at a dance at Lady Gedion - Miss Wilmot sang; tonight at the Duchess of Beaufort's; no amusement "to an old woman as I am become". Lady Sophia Egerton poorly. Has made a trimming for a negligee and worked a muff with narrow ribbon, besides making the design; it is in medallions with wreathes of small flower coloured foils and pheasant feathers (sic). Brother David has set sail from Portsmouth for the Indies; rejoice at his being gone, nor desirous of meeting him again without an entire reformation of his conduct; the other is still at Dunkirk, so probably shall see neither again. I have done my duty with respect to them, therefore conscience quiet. Lady Sophia Egerton made David a present. Our deceased friend [not clear who, apparently in war]. Father [PY] not too well.
