    i) William Butlin of Roade, Northamptonshire, clerk, and William Watkins of Bedford, coal merchant ii) Alexander Maitland of Bedford, Esquire Whereas: William Theed of Bedford devised all his real estate in Bedford by his will dated 24 January 1797 to i) on trust to be sold for the best price obtainable, and ii) had agreed to purchase the property described below NOW consideration: £480 paid ii) to i), i) grant to ii) - capital messuage etc. as in HT1/13/6 & 7, but late in the occupation of the said William Theed deceased :N. messuage and ground, now in the occupation of Trustees of the Bedford Charity :S. messuage or tenement, now of John Costin Esquire :E. Bull Ring - piece of pasture or sward ground, formerly a yard and orchard, and now a garden to the messuage (1 acre) formerly in the occupation of Richard Lane, but now occupied with the messuage. Abbuttals as in HT1/13/6 & 7, but :N. yard and ground of the said Trustees of the Bedford Charity endorsed: receipt by i) to ii) for £840; [in later hand] "Mr Maitland entered into a deed of covenant to i) for production of the Old Title Deeds for supporting the title to other premises contained therein". witnesses: Thomas Bucknall, Clerk to Mr. Watkins William Hedge of Road, Farmer Thomas Field, servant to Mr. Watkins seals: two applied signature: i)
