  • Scope and Content
Note: The deeds in this bundle begin in 1713, but it is clear from other evidence that the deeds now catalogued as AD145-148 [formerly AD Bundle 2/1-4] relate to this property which, together with the adjoining house and lands on the North side, belonged to the Taylor family from the late 17th century. These early deeds, together with some mortgage deeds relating to the other property, seem to have been removed from the bundles of title deeds during the process of conveyancing during the early 19th century. the deeds give an unbroken series from 1513 to 1570 when the property was conveyed to Thomas Hawes of Bedford, and the property seems to have remained in the hands of the Hawes family until 1668 [See HT1/6/6] for conveyance of property from Thomas Hawes of Hertford, gentleman, to John Taylor of Bedford, butcher for £31, dated 22 June 1668
